The main appeal of this story is the ever expanding world and horrors that dwell within it.The story centers around the doings of ILEX, a Greek God of Chaos and Destruction, and how he warps and shapes the world around him. ▍ ❝ RULE ONE.
You cannot make fan made Guardians or Children to ILEX/Revived. This can conflict with the story in a way you might not intend or enjoy due to the canon being fully thought through. You can make Revived fatherly to your character, but not the actual father. Nor can more than 7 Guardians exist.▍ ❝ RULE TWO.
Leaders of the cult are chosen very specifically and your character cannot fit the ranks. As much as it'd be fun, people outside of me, Moonlight, and Niall can make characters eligible for leadership of the cult. Even then, once again, this is already planned out.▍ ❝ RULE THREE.
In-Universe EXEs are limited to 3 instances to show the novelty of these occurrences, and as such, your character cannot be a fellow exe or a protagonist that gets affected by any other exes outside of two: ILEX or Anathema.
ILEX's WORDS
Don't be a bigot, don't discriminate or target those of a specific background, race, gender, sexual orientation, nothing. We kill with no bias.
Do not hit or harm the children. If they want to leave the cult, they can. When they do, we wipe their memory and send them off to a safe family.

FOLLOWERS OF X PIN GUIDE
❝ Highest Ranking Pin
Only worn by Ilex and the Guardians, the only exception is Zephaniah, and it is due to ego.
❝ Loyalty Pin
Worn by those most loyal to the Followers of X, Usually the leaders and business owners. Sometimes worn by those casually in the cult if there's extreme shows of loyalty.
❝ Casual Pin
The most common pin, usually worn by those just in the cult for the sake of personal beliefs or someone whose been born into the cult who hasn't done any grand gestures of loyalty, but still worship ILEX.
FOLLOWERS OF X SCAR GUIDE
The High Leaders
The leaders both have huge, glowing, gold scarring that takes the shape of an X. This is to show they've been appointed to leaders by Ilex himself, which makes it impossible to fake.However, a downside to this, is that early rot will start to occur, as if the body is prematurely dying. This will start around the ages of 25 and continues until the body hits 50.
The Secondary Leaders
Those with extensive loyalty and jobs that benefit the cult will receive this scar. It's dubbed the "Secondary Leader Tri-Scar."
The Wanderers
This scar has no interest visually outside of existing, but this is the most common scar amongst the cult.They also have scars on the tips of their fingers from continued loyalty rituals. Everyone does, really.
Followers of X Dress Code
❝ FOX Outfits
While you can essentially wear whatever you want under the pretense it's appropriate, there's colors you have to follow. Fear not, as there are tailors made specifically for making outfits that adhere to the dress code. The only exception to the colors are if you're wearing graphic tees, but even then they'll be outsourced via the leaders to make sure they're appropriate and don't speak ill of the cult, the person wearing it, or those around them.

Theres literally no dress code as long as you're dressing appropriately.Seriously that's all you'd need.
SOULS AND DISCLAIMER
THERE IS A CHANCE YOUR CHARACTER MAY DIE.Straight up, there's plenty of instances were your character may die, and if they do, depending on their relationship with ILEX, they will have a soul form. If that is to happen, you need to play into the confides of the soul rules:
Can be any fictional character within reason. (No OP characters or Sonic himself.)
Brutalized in a way that plays into how they died or their personality flaws.
If two characters are in love, ILEX's lovers priority will mean they die together, no matter what.
No duplicates (Stitched Sally, Purple Cream, Stitched Amy, Etc.)

The Birth of ILEX
2300 BCE
Where it all began.
Ilex is born, dubbed the God of Chaos and Destruction.
Despite such a title, he is loved and worshipped by many.
Ilex is described by many as a beaituful man with piercing black and red eyes, unique to him (that we know of).
The Followers of ILEX
2299 BCE - 1776
Gods have followers.
The Followers of Ilex is formed and in practice.
However, it's not called a cult until later, but they still refer to themselves as "Followers of Ilex."
They main purpose of worship is a second chance at life under Ilex's care.
However, Ilex is manipulative, this is a half truth.
As the years go by, the numbers dwindle, but never reach 0.
The Era of X
1889
Slightly prosperous, if a bit quiet.
Ilex now changes his name to X to keep up with modern times, as he's one of few who has not dwindled to the past.
This is also the birth of what we know as the Guardians.
No one really knows how they came to be, but their single black sclera makes it known they're under him.
The Blue Hedgehog
1991
It's all downhill from here.
Sonic the Hedgehog is released for the public to play.
Ilex takes an interest, almost an obbsession to this game fanchise, changing his form to mimmic the iconic blue rodent.
The main reason is due to a lot of Sonic fans being more suspetable to manipulation to a dangeous degree.
The First 'X Murder'

Do you think they're still there?
The first 'X' murder takes place.
The reason this is such a big deal is due to the followers either consenting to being murdered or suicides.
This is the first, real indication of a murder.
The Amplified Effect
2012
2 events in one year?
John is the first to document his experiences with the X disc, the only known record at this time period due to how infrequent and random these murders were.
Thomas Raynott is also introduced to an anomalous ROM hack. He writes about it on his blog.
John is found dead in his apartment building not long after his blog goes up.
Thomas is spared, apparently.
Creation of Blur
2015
SXNIC06: Project Leviathan
Blur is created by infusing a living being (Sonic) with Soul Glass, then placed back in their original world (Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)).
Blur is created as a result, a monsterous being stuck in a Sonic body.
Due to glitches, bugs, and mental instability, X scraps Blur.
Blur will be alive while the TV is off.
The 2017 Massacre

We will never understand the confirmation of a God.
The biggest X Massacre ever documented, counting over 4076 murders of 5000 students.
All hands on deck on this one. Cultists, Guardians, even X himself.

Chris Laurence is recruited under X and the guardians.
He's, in fact, not happy about this. Not in the slightest.
This is also the year Racheal Hegedus tragically commits suicide.

Project Glass Cannon
X makes a being out of purely Soul Glass, Glass Cannon.
It works for a time, even has potential. Except it got attached to X.
As such, it was banished to the void, due to there being no original source to abandon it to.
The start of a really bad streak.
Godly Suicide

Well, nothing lasts forever.
A breaking point has been reached, X has lost almost everything.
The consequences of his actions are also chasing him, fast. Faster than his idol could ever run.
So, he takes his own route, and shatters himself across his world, killing him.
Killed, but not dead.
Kyle Goldmann finds one shard, keeping it.
The Restart of X
2037 - 2062
... Whens the happy ending?
Kyle Goldmann would become a father to Diane Goldmann.
He entrusts her with the soul fragment, hoping she won't bring X back and to keep her safe.
Little do either know, this was an awful decision. The cult is tied to them both. She brings it back.
Diane Goldmann is now the highest leader.
The Extreme Era
2062 - 2083
Would this be what X wanted?
Diane rebuilds the cult of X after Kyle's death. 9 shards are found.
Zephaniah is put into power in the Cult of X, under the Guardians and Leaders.
Devilyn Goldman is born to Diane.
Zephaniah is given his own branch of the Cult of X, now with an outlet for his radical views.
Devilyn is killed by the cult, now transferred to a Sonic 3 disc.
Revived X
2087
Well, nothing lasts forever.
Devilyn finds the last piece of X's soul gem, fully bringing X back to life.
X is mortified at what he sees, what an unbelievable state the Cult is in.
He immediately takes to Devilyn, now named Spoiled.dll, and adopts them.
What now?

SOUL Gems
STATUS: IntactTAMPERED?: No
Soul gems are a reflection of the person that holds them. While they may not have an extreme consequence or prevalence in many situations, they're useful for a few reasons. However, that's only if they're already shattered.As well, the colors of said gem can dictate what kind of person you are. While humans are always stuck with a pink gem and mobians have orange, the rules for exes are much more diverse. They can also be more than one color and take different shapes.
Darkness shows as a dark, purple-ish color; It means the soul is pure evil, no sugarcoating it.
Malformed shows as a bright blue color; It means the soul has more than one form physically with no help from outside sources. Also dubbed 'Fakers.'
Code-Based shows as a 'hacker green'; It means the soul is reliant on code to any degree to exist.
Purity shows as a peachy, orange color; It means the soul hold no evil in the heart, they are sweet and kind.
Vengeance shows as a deep, blood red; It means the soul has dedicated itself to such vengeance, such as killing those who wronged them. Commonly dubbed 'EXE Slayers.'
Human-Bound show as a deep pink color; It means the soul exists due to a spirit inhabiting the body. Also dubbed 'Human to EXE.'
STATUS: ShatteredTAMPERED?: No
When a vessel dies, their soul gem shatters with it. While the spirit lives on elsewhere, the body is now inactive or dead. However, these are extremely useful, as they can be used to make Soul Glass or hold pieces of the host, such as a '2nd half'. However, they are usually burned to dispose of them.
STATUS: ShatteredTAMPERED?: Blood Enfused
Soul Glass is the combination of blood and soul fragments. The reason for it's existence is simple: to achieve demigodhood. However, it causes extreme soul decay and an early death and rot. As such, it's dangerous to use. There is only two beings made of soul glass, it's best to keep it that way.
